About Naomi A
Canadian born NAOMI A. now calls Boston home. A graduate of the Faculty of Music and the Opera School at University of Toronto, she sang professionally for many years. However, her hands were never empty backstage. Eventually, this hand activity expanded to include further studies in: costume design; painting; drawing; drafting along with courses in architecture and interior design.
"I found working with my hands a relaxing diversion from the intensity of preparing to go onstage. It always brought calmness, a better performance."
Hired by an Interior Design firm to do residential interiors in the 70's, gave way to the pursuit of fashion accessories in the 80's. An inspirational trip to the Far East led her to begin the NAOMI 'A' STUDIO. The Studio produced a line of costume jewelry which ultimately attracted over 350 retail accounts. Her clients included boutiques; department stores; catalogues; an American sportswear manufacturer; a furrier for whom she produced fur coat closures and runway jewelry, as well as many museums and galleries in both the USA and Canada.
Naomi conceived and designed, TRAVEL EYES, a handy travel case for all eyewear needs for the optical industry for which she holds a USA Design patent.
In the early 90's Naomi took a two-year college program in Metalsmithing. This new skill set allowed her to incorporate her own original castings in her work.
NAOMI 'A' DESIGNS is currently producing only unique and limited edition signed pieces of jewelry.

Artist's Statement
A true designer, looks to solve problems, while an artist seeks uniqueness. I set out to design and make pieces that are comfortably wearable. They harmonize with today's style, but have a classic feeling to achieve balance for longevity. They should be fun to wear and make the wearer feel happy! Some have a sense of whimsy, even humor!
